How we work

We used to define our style as natural, documentary, reportage, creative photography; but these actually feel a little cliché. We don’t just want to fill our site with ‘keywords’ that we think will get our site higher up on Google!

We were once described by a couple as ‘photographic ninjas’, and our favourite regular compliment is “we didn’t even know you were there taking most of these”. We basically want to capture how it felt to be at your wedding, without being a part of the day ourselves. We’re not there to influence any of your decisions, or itinerary - that should solely be about what YOU want. We’re there to document your wedding day as beautifully and creatively as we possibly can.

Two Photographers

Helen and I have now been working together for 9 years, and are very good friends. We’re so familiar with what we do that we both know our jobs, and just get on with capturing the day without deliberation. Helen goes with the Bride for the morning, and you’ll see her at the front of your ceremony; whilst Shaun can spend some time with the Groom, and usually hangs around the back for the service. We see ourselves as a duo - two photographers working in sync. We’ve started, grown and learned about our photography business together as equals. We’re not a Photographer with a second shooter, which you may find with other photographers; so our work is at a consistent standard! We’re friendly and relaxed, and absolutely love meeting so many new people at weddings. We stay unobtrusive, but are always hunting you and your guests for those little moments that make a wedding day.

Portraits

You’ve probably visited us here, or on our social media on the back of some of our portraits - the ‘main shots’ that look so good for our marketing! But that’s actually a very small part of your day. We won’t take you and your partner away for hours on end - you’re there to have the best day ever, not be posing for photos! We need no longer than 15 minutes for you guys to have a little walk away (and a well-deserved break from the barrage of guests!). We tend to do this over two ‘windows’, with one later in the evening for that lovely, soft evening light (it will be worth it!). We don’t like to pose; it feels awkward for you guys, and awkwardness doesn’t photograph well! We may tell you to walk, or stand in a certain place - but we really bounce off you as a couple, and want to capture you and your personalities whilst you enjoy a bit of peace and quiet.

Group Photos

This always gets a mention; and we can see why! They can be an important part of your photographs, even for those couples who want to keep ‘posed’ photos to a minimum. After having our own weddings, we realise the importance of you and your guests just being free to have a bloody good time! You probably don’t want to be involved in an hour-long conveyor belt with multiple formations, all waiting for Uncle Ted when he’s disappeared to the bar! If that is what you want, we may not be the photographers you’re after. However, we also realise the importance of getting a few quick shots with your parents, granddad and bridal party, so we usually set 10 minutes aside, grab the people we need and take them. We’re also not fussed about lining up straight, or whether it’s hands behind back - as long as everyone is in the shot, and looking at the camera; it’s all good!

Dancefloor

We love a good party! We used to leave just after the first dance, but quickly realised we were missing some of the day’s best action! We’ll stay for a while into the evening reception to capture your guests, and their best moves! It’s the only time you’ll see us with a flash on the camera; either to add a little ambient light, or for creative effect
